The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2025 Division III Men's Lacrosse Team of the Week accolades on Wednesday, March 12. Players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
1. Nick Lynch, Goalie, So., Madison, Conn. (Union). 64.7 save percentage, 9.00 goals against average, 33 saves, 8 ground balls, 1 caused turnover. Making the first two starts of his collegiate career, Lynch combined for 33 saves. He started the week by making 12 stops to keep Union in the game in a close 12-10 loss to Williams on Wednesday. Against Muhlenberg he stopped 19 of the first 21 on-target shots he faced (including nine saves in the first quarter alone) in allowing the visitors to jump out to an 11-2 lead, and eventually finished with a career-high 21 saves in an 11-6 win.
2. Joe Szymanski, Defense, Jr. Easton, Md. (St. Mary’s (Md.)). 16 ground balls, 7 caused turnovers. Szymanski led the St. Mary’s defense with a career-best 10 ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 14-12 road win over Catholic, then picked up six loose balls and caused a careerbest five turnovers in a 14-6 loss to Elizabethtown.
3. Sutton Ursillo, Defense, Jr., Meredith, N.H. (Wooster). 6 ground balls, 5 caused turnovers. Ursillo led Wooster with five caused turnovers and picked up six ground balls in a 12-6 win over Albion.
4. Ash Hoelscher, Faceoff Specialist, Sr., Johnston, Iowa (Cornell College) 78.5 faceoff percentage (32 of 41), 17 ground balls, 2 goals. Hoelscher won 17-of-20 draws in a 13-10 win over Centenary, including 3-of-4 in the fourth quarter as Cornell scored three times to win. He also won 15-of-21 draws with 10 ground balls and two goals in a 14-9 win over Clarke, with his second goal knotting the score to start the fourth quarter and beginning a game-winning 7-1 run.
5. Ben Miller, Long-Stick Midfield, Sr., Scarsdale, N.Y. (Bates). 7 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers. Miller had a big game defensively in Bates’ 11-10 victory against Williams. Miller caused three turnovers taking on the top midfield matchup defensively, and also was the squad’s top player on the wing, picking up seven ground balls to help the team win 72 percent of its faceoffs.
6. Xander Frey, Midfield, Fy., Potomac, Md. (Bates). 3 goals, 3 assists, 1 ground ball. Frey led Bates to a comeback 11-10 (OT) victory against Williams, finishing the game with a team-leading three goals and three assists. He played a role in five of Bates' final six goals, including scoring the game-tying and game-winning tallies.
7. Jake Rust, Midfield, 5th, Windham, N.H. (Lynchburg). 6 goals, 1 ground ball. Rust tied his careerhigh with six goals in a 15-9 win over #16 Dickinson. In a run of seven straight tallies to start the game, Rust had four during the stretch, including goals that bookended the run.
8. JP Rakis, Attack, Jr., Kensington, Md. (Allegheny). 10 goals, 5 assists, 9 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers. Rakis scored three goals with one assist in a 10-6 win over Alfred, including two goals in Allegheny's 5-0 run that turned a 6-5 deficit into a comeback win. He also set a program record for points in a game by accounting for 11 of his team’s 15 goals in a 15-4 win over Hiram, scoring seven times and assisting on four.
9. Jack Regnery, Attack, Jr., Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (Tufts). 9 goals, 3 assists, 4 ground balls. Regnery tied two Tufts records in a 27-9 win over Trinity, finishing with nine goals and three assists for 12 points in less than three quarters of action. The nine goals tied the program record for goals in a game, while the 12 points also matched the school standard.
10. Riley Strub, Attack, Jr., Darien, Conn. (Salisbury). 4 goals, 2 assists. Strub gave #3 Salisbury a much-needed spark in its 16-12 win over #6 Wesleyan on Saturday, blitzing the Cardinals with four goals in seven minutes to headline an 8-0 run to begin the second half. Strub added a pair of assists to finish with a season-high six points.
