The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2024 Division III Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week accolades on Wednesday, May 1. Players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
1. Zac Hanway, Goalie, Gr., Ocean City, Md. (Christopher Newport)
16 saves, 8 goals against, 66.7 save percentage. Hanway had 16 saves to lead #7 Christopher Newport past #10 Washington and Lee on Saturday, 12-8, including nine stops in the second half to stifle W&L's comeback bid. Four of his saves came after the Generals cut their deficit down to one with eight minutes remaining in regulation, including two during a man-down situation, which helped seal the win.
2. Mike Allen, Defense, So., Williamsburg, Va. (Randolph-Macon)
14 ground balls, 6 caused turnovers, 1 assist. Allen led Randolph-Macon to a pair of wins last week by totaling 14 ground balls and six caused turnovers in two games. He recorded eight GBs and five CTs while also dishing out an assist in a win over Bridgewater, then led the team with six ground balls and one caused turnover against Randolph.
3. Cassady Bouthet, Defense, Sr., Vernon, Conn. (Allegheny)
9 ground balls, 7 caused turnovers. Bouthet set an Allegheny single-game record with seven caused turnovers and tied a career-high with nine ground balls in a 23-5 win over Franciscan while helping to limit the nation’s points leader to just one goal and one assist.
4. Vinny Facciponti, Faceoff Specialist, Fr., Annapolis, Md. (York (Pa.))
78.7 faceoff percentage (37 of 47), 28 ground balls, 1 caused turnover, 2 goals. Facciponti set a school record with 33 faceoff wins (33-39) and matched a school record with 27 ground balls while also scoring twice in York's21-19 win over Messiah to clinch the Commonwealth regular season title. He also went 4 for-8 earlier in the week in a win at Hood.
5. Eric Patterson, Long-Stick Midfield, Fr., Stoughton, Wisc. (Capital)
19 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers. Patterson put up big numbers in the defensive midfield as Capital won both games last week. He grabbed a career-high 12 ground balls and caused three turnovers in an 11-8 win over Muskingum, then secured seven ground balls as Capital beat Marietta 16-4.
6. Brice Bromwell, Midfield, Jr., Woolford, Md. (Salisbury)
6 goals, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover. Bromwell matched his career-high with six goals in the regular-season finale against Cabrini, helping top-ranked Salisbury complete the 15th undefeated regular season in program history.
7. Colin August, Attack, So., Garrison, N.Y. (Hartwick)
11 goals, 3 assists, 3 ground balls. August was the focal point of the Hartwick attack that lifted them to two conference wins and an Empire 8 Tournament berth. August scored a game-high six goals paired with two assists in a must-win game over Russell Sage, and then picked up a game-high five goals and one assist in the regular-season finale against Keuka.
8. Jake Mabardy, Attack, Sr., Winchester, Mass., (Union)
6 goals, 3 assists, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover. Mabardy had a team-leading nine points in two games for #9 Union last week. The senior accounted for more than half of Union's scoring in an 11-6 win over St. John Fisher on Wednesday, scoring four goals and adding two assists. He added two goals and an assist on Saturday in a 16-12 loss to #2 RIT.
9. Judge Murphy, Attack, Sr., Cohasset, Mass., (St. Lawrence)
6 goals, 1 assist, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover. Murphy led #5 St. Lawrence to a 15-10 win over #4 RPI to earn the second seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament with six goals and an assist for seven points to go with one ground ball and one caused turnover.
10. Luke Pilcher, Attack, Gr., Oakville, Ont. (RIT)
4 goals, 2 assists, 4 ground balls. Pilcher recorded six points on four goals and two assists to help lead #2 RIT to a 16-12 win over #9 Union on Saturday. He connected on six of his 10 shots and added four ground balls to help clinch first place in the Liberty League regular season.
