2024 USILA / Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week – Division I – Week of Feb. 26

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2024 Division I Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
 
The list of honorees are as follows:
 
1. Alex Ross, Defense, Davidsonville, Md., Sophomore, Penn State
Ross recorded a commanding four caused turnovers and three ground balls in a 13-3 win over Navy.
 
2. Luke Wierman, Faceoff specialist, West Chester, Pa., Grad., Maryland
Wierman controlled the X against Princeton, winning 20-of-23 faceoffs. His 20 wins at the X made him the first Terrapin to surpass 700 faceoff wins in program history. He tied his career-high with 13 ground balls in the contest.
 
3. Charles Hunt, Attack, Dripping Springs, Texas, Junior, VMI
Hunt had back-to-back eight-point games in wins against Brown and St. Bonaventure. He tied the fourth most points in a game at VMI, and his seven goals against St. Bonaventure was the third most goals in a single game in program history.
 
4. Louis Perfetto, Attack, Manhasset, N.Y., Grad., Boston University
Perfetto scored a career-best seven goals and added two assists for a career-high nine points in a 16-10 win against Brown. His seventh goal of the game gave him 100 goals in his career, which made him the only Terrier in program history to have 100 career goals and 100 career assists.
 
5. Matt Brandau, Attack, Timonium, Md., Senior, Yale
Brandau tallied a program record 13 points in a 21-11 win over Colgate with six goals and seven assists. 10 of his 13 points came in the first half.
 
6. Cardin Stoller, Goalkeeper, Owings Mills, Md., R-Freshman, Rutgers
Stoller stopped a career-best 15 saves and allowed just five goals for a .750 save percentage in a 13-5 road win over Loyola.
 
7. Hopper Zappitello, Attack, Portland, Ore., Sophomore, Dartmouth
Zappitello logged eight points on two goals and six assists in a 14-8 win against Holy Cross. His six assists were the most by a Big Green player since 2017.
 
8. Noah Manning, Attack, Victoria, B.C., Junior, Denver
Manning achieved career-high in goals with five and points with six in a 17-16 win over Cornell. He scored two game-tying goals in the fourth quarter and assisted the game-winning goal.
 
9. Ty Banks, Defense, Coquitlam, B.C., Freshman, Georgetown
Banks held two-time Tewaaraton Award Finalist Pat Kavanagh scoreless through 45 minutes and without a goal until 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter. He forced a Kavanagh turnover in the ending seconds of regulation to push the game to overtime en route to an 11-10 win at Notre Dame.
 
10. Matthew Nunes, Goalkeeper, The Woodlands, Texas, Junior, Virginia
Nunes recorded 17 saves and let up just seven goals in a 14-8 victory against Ohio State. He also added two ground balls in the contest.
