The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2022 Division III Dynamic Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, March 15. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
- Mitchell Maida – Attack – Mass Maritime Academy
Maida scored seven goals in a 1-1 week for the Buccaneers with five coming in a 14-7 win over Maine Maritime. He added four assists in that win while picking up three ground balls and forcing a turnover. In a 10-9 loss to Norwich, Maida scored twice and assisted on three other goals.
- Ryan Gebhardt – Attack - MIT
In MIT's only game of the week, a 17-12 win over Roger Williams on Wednesday, Ryan Gebhardt tallied nine goals and three assists. His performance tied the program records for goals in a game and points in a game. Gebhardt's fourth goal put the Engineers ahead for good (6-5) at the end of the first quarter. He then scored three goals in a row in the second quarter, turning a one-goal lead into an 11-7 cushion.
- Cross Ferrara – Attack – Salisbury University
Ferrara led the Sea Gulls offense with 14 points, scoring 10 goals and dishing out four assists. In Wednesday's 24-2 win over Ohio Northern, Ferrara led the Sea Gulls with 10 points, scoring seven goals and tallying three assists. He also added in four ground balls and caused two turnovers. On Sunday, Ferrara recorded a hat-trick and an assist in the 13-10 win over No. 6 York.
- Gavin Admirand – Attack – UMass Boston
Had eight goals and five assists for a 13-point week to lead the Beacons to a 4-0 start for the third straight year. In the Beacons first win of the week, he unloaded five goals and three assists in the 16-8 win over Lasell. Also had three ground balls and one caused turnover. In a frigid rain-soaked win over UNE he had three goals and two assists. Posted one ground ball.
- Kyle Lewis – Attack – University of Lynchburg
Has multiple assists in all five of No. 7 Lynchburg's games this season.
- David Burke – Defense – Drew University
Burke posted eight ground balls and three caused turnovers in Drew's 19-9 victory at Immaculata. He helped the Rangers hold the Mighty Macs to 34 shots, including just four in the fourth quarter, when they also limited the Mighty Macs to one goal. Also, a wing, he picked up half of his ground balls on face-offs, helping the Rangers finish 18-for-31 at the X. Burke also contributed offensively with a pair of goals.
- Sam Byrne – FOGO – Union College
Byrne was nearly perfect on faceoffs last week, winning 16 of 17 draws with eight ground balls. He was a key part of Union's dominant effort at the faceoff X against #9/16 Williams on Thursday, going 11-for-11 with five ground balls in a 14-6 victory. He then had a light load in Sunday's 21-5 win over Plattsburgh, winning his first five draws before losing his final attempt in the second quarter.
- Andrew Smith – Goalie – Bethany (W. VA)
He made 23 saves in Bethany's 15-2 win over Cairn.
- Coby Auslander – Midfield – Christopher Newport
Coby Auslander led the captains with 14 total points during the squad's victories over No. 19 Ursinus and Illinois Wesleyan. Against the nationally ranked Bears, he registered six assists, which equaled the second-highest single-game total in program history and marked the most by a Captain against a top-20 foe. On Sunday, he came back with six more helpers against Illinois Wesleyan while also adding a goal in both appearances during the week.
- Robert Wagner – Midfield – Misericordia University
Had eight goals, nine assists and nine ground balls in a 2-0 week. Had 3g, 6a against Wittenberg and had 5g, 3a against Wentworth. 17-point week in 2 games.
