The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2021 Division I Dynamic Team of the Week accolades on Wednesday, May 12. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
- A - Jared Bernhardt, Maryland / vs. Michigan, Johns Hopkins / The Big Ten Most Valuable Player amassed 13 points on 10 goals and 3 assists to lead Maryland to its third Big Ten Tournament title. With his career-best 10 points (8G, 2A) against Michigan, he became the Terps' all-time points leader, breaking Matt Rambo's record of 257.
- A - Reid Bowering, Drexel / vs. Hofstra, UMass / Secured Most Outstanding Player recognition at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship after posting 8 points on 7 goals and an assist to lead the Dragons to their second CAA title. Bowering scored 5 goals on 7 shots to top Hofstra in the championship game.
- A - Owen Hiltz, Syracuse / vs. Robert Morris / With 9 points on 7 goals and 2 assists, Hiltz set the Syracuse single- game record for goals scored by a freshman. Ranked eighth on Syracuse's all-time freshman points list with 47, there have been only 3 Orange freshmen who have scored more points in a season - John Zulberti (74-1986), Mikey Powell (70-2001) and Casey Powell (67-1995).
- A - Asher Nolting, High Point / vs. Jacksonville, Richmond / Named the SoCon Tournament MVP after posting 3 goals and 4 assists in leading the Panthers to their second SoCon title.
- A - Corey Yunker, Albany / vs. UMBC, Vermont / Produced 11 points on 9 goals and a pair of assists for Albany at the America East Championship. He played a role in 8 of the Great Danes' 10 goals in the championship game against Vermont, where he scored a team-best 6 goals and assisted on 2 others.
- GK - Luke Caracciolo, Bryant / vs. Hobart, Saint Joseph's / The Northeast Conference Most Valuable Player made 35 saves between the pipes, including 18 against top-seeded Saint Joseph's, to lead the third-seeded Bulldogs to their sixth Northeast Conference Championship.
- GK - Owen McElroy, Georgetown / vs. Villanova, Denver / Turned in 32 saves en route to being named the Big East Tournament's Most Outstanding Player and leading the Hoyas to their third-consecutive league title. McElroy turned in 15 stops against No. 7 Denver, holding the Pioneers to their fewest goals since their season-opening win (9-8) over Utah.
- FO - Tommy Burke, Vermont / vs. Stony Brook, Albany / Burke won 37 of the 49 draws (75.5), including 23 of 29 in the championship game against Albany, to earn Most Outstanding Player honors and lead Vermont to the program's first America East title and NCAA Tournament berth.
- FO - Mike Sisselberger, Lehigh / vs. Villanova, Colgate / Won 38 of 47 (80.9) of the draws he took for the week, including 20 of 22 in the Mountain Hawks' loss to No. 16 Villanova, their only blemish of the season. Sisselberger is atop the national rankings having won 79.5 percent (210-264) of his faceoffs and is seeking to break TD Ierlan's NCAA single-season faceoff winning percentage record of 79.1 (359-454) set in 2018 when he was at Albany. 791—TD Ierlan, Albany (NY), 2018 (359 of 454).
- FO - Matt Soutar, Monmouth / vs. St. Bonaventure, Manhattan / Won 37 of 48 (77.1) faceoffs and grabbed 19 ground balls in a pair of games to guide the Hawks to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference crown as the No. 2 seed.
