The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2021 Division I Dynamic Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, February 23. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
- A - Jake Carraway, #8 Georgetown // 8G, 1A, 9 Pts vs. #16 Villanova
- A - Connor Kirst, #17 Rutgers // 3G, 4A, 7Pts vs. #6 Penn State
- A - Matt Moore, #3 Virginia // 5G vs. #11 Loyola
- D - Gibson Smith, #8 Georgetown // 1G, 1A, 2 Pts, 2CT, 2GB vs. #16 Villanova, Georgetown held the Wildcats scoreless for the final 50:51 of the game after surrendering the game’s first goal at the 9:09 mark in the first quarter … The Hoyas close D held Villanova to just 28 shots and only eight shots on the goal the entire day … GU’s man-down unit was perfect on all four VU attempts …The Hoyas have allowed one goal in a game twice before, a 16-1 victory over Catholic in 1980 and a 9-1 win against Vermont in 2005.
- D - Malik Sparrow, #9 Denver // 1G, 3CT vs. Marquette, Forced a career-high three turnovers, leading a Denver ride that forced Marquette into eight failed clears, including seven in the first half.
- D - Nick Grill, #5 Maryland // 3CT, 4GB vs. Michigan, Held Alex Buckanavage, Michigan's leading scorer from 2019, without a point. Maryland held Michigan to under 10 goals, extending the team's winning streak to 26 when holding opponents to under 10 goals.
- GK - Anthony Palma, Stony Brook // 16Sv, 8GA vs. Bryant, 9 saves and 1GA in second half
- GK - Wyatt Schupler, #12 Army // 13Sv, 11GA vs. #4 Syracuse, after making just 1 save in first quarter, totaled 12 for the rest of the game, including 10 in the second and third quarters where he gave up a combined 2 goals.
- FO - Brian Herber, Hofstra // 19-23, 82.6, 7GB vs. Sacred Heart
- FO - Jake Naso, #1 Duke // 21-25, 84.0, 11GB vs. Towson
