The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2020 Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Chris Brandau, Maryland – So., G, Timonium, Md.
Made 19 saves in a 17-15 win over Penn; made 13 saves in the second half while allowing only three goals and led a defense that shut Penn out for the final 22:58
Kyle Gucwa, Manhattan – Fr., A, Pottstown, Pa.
Scored six goals and had an assist in a 10-8 win over VMI; six goals came on just seven shots
Jason Knox, Hobart – So., A, Huntsville, Ont.
Scored 10 goals and added an assist in a 26-9 win over Siena; broke the Hobart and Northeast Conference records for goals in a game
Kyle LeBlanc, Loyola – Jr. D, Brielle, N.J.
Held Johns Hopkins’ Cole Williams without a goal in a 10-7 win; had two caused turnovers and two ground balls
George Prince, Dartmouth – Jr., A, Bradenton, Fla.
Had six goals and three assists in a 13-11 win over Merrimack; had six goals on nine shots
James Reilly, Georgetown – So., FO, Berwyn, Pa.
Won 19 of 24 face-offs in a 14-8 win over UMBC; also had 12 ground balls
Michael Sowers, Princeton – Sr., A, Dresher, Pa.
Had four goals and seven assists for 11 points, nine of which came in the first half, of a 20-9 win over Monmouth; the 11 points tied his own school record for points in a game
Ryan Smith, Robert Morris – Sr., A, Burlington, Ont.
Had eight goals and two assists in a 22-10 win over Canisius; the 10 points broke the RMU single-game record, and the eight goals tied the school record
Ryan Tierney, Hofstra – Sr., A, Massapequa, N.Y.
Tied career high with eight points in a 12-9 win over Michigan; had four goals in the first half and four assists in the second half
Jeff Trainor, UMass – Sr., M, Billerica, Mass.
Had two goals and an assist in a 9-7 win over No. 12 Ohio State; had both goals and the assist in the final 9:31 as UMass went from down 7-6 to up 9-7
