The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2020 Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Adam Charalambides, Rutgers – RJr., A, Georgetown, Ontario
Scored a career-high tying six goals and added an assist in the 17-10 win over St. John’s; he has scored 16 goals in three career games against St. John’s
Zach Cole, Saint Joseph’s – So., FO, Mount Laurel, N.J.
Won 24 of 27 face-offs and had 11 ground balls in a 15-8 win over St. Bonaventure; was a perfect 7-of-7 and 5-of-5 in the second and fourth quarters, respectively, and won 10 consecutive face-offs spanning the entire second quarter through the opening 1:58 of the third.
Anthony DeMaio, Maryland - Jr., M, San Diego, Calif.
Scored the game-winning goal in double-overtime to lead No. 4 Maryland to a 14-13 win over Richmond; tallied two goals and three assists in the game; played a pivotal role in the Terps’ come-from-behind win, dishing out a pair of assists in the fourth quarter to help force overtime.
Matt Grillo, Providence – So., A, Setuaket, N.Y.
Scored five of the team’s six goals in leading Providence to a 6-4 win over Holy Cross
Connor McClelland, Marquette – Sr., M, Brampton, Ontario
Scored four goals and added two assists for a career-high six points in an 11-10 win over Bellarmine; scored five points (3G, 2A) in the opening half to give the Golden Eagles a five-goal lead (9-4) at the half.
Sean Menges, Richmond – Sr., D/LSM, Richmond, Va.
Had six caused turnovers and six ground balls in the 14-13 double overtime loss to No. 4 Maryland; the six takeaways tied as the third most in program history.
Stephen Rehfuss, Syracuse – RSr., A, Latham, N.Y.
Had one goal and seven assists in Syracuse’s 21-14 win over Colgate; he is just the 10th player in program history to record seven or more assists in a game and the second player since 2000 to do so.
Mike Robinson, Delaware – Fr., A, Peterborough, Ontario
Set a school record with seven goals in his first collegiate game to pace Delaware to a 14-8 victory over Mount St. Mary’s; scored four goals in the opening half to give the Blue Hens a 7-5 at the break and scored the first two goals of third quarter.
Alex Rode, Virginia – Jr., GK, Timonium, Md.
Made a career-high tying 19 saves in a 12-9 win over 14th-ranked Loyola; he recorded 13 saves in the opening half, as the Cavaliers built a 9-3 lead.
Cole Williams, Johns Hopkins – Sr., A, Marriottsville, Md.
Scored three goals and added four assists in the Blue Jays’ season-opening 15-7 win over 19th-ranked Towson; his seven points were a career high, as were his four assists.
