The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its ninth 2019 Division III Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, April 9. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
John Belanger, FDU-Florham (Jr., A, Kinnelon, N.J.)
Belanger scored seven goals and added two assists as the Devils went 2-0 on the week. Belanger became the first Devils player to score seven goals in a game since 2014, doing so in a win over Delaware Valley. He added a goal and an assist as the Devils downed King's 6-5 on Saturday.
Ethan Donlon, Haverford (So., G, Concord, N.H.)
Donlon stopped 23 of #10 Dickinson's 32 shots on goal as the Haverford College Fords picked up their highest-ranked win since the 2010 season when the team won its first and only Centennial Conference Championship.
Eric Husselbaugh, Bridgewater (So., A, Annapolis, Md.)
Husselbaugh totaled 13 goals and 18 points in two must-win conference games as Bridgewater beat likely its two closest competitors for the final ODAC playoff spot. Husselbaugh had seven goals and two assists in a 15-14 victory at Shenandoah, and six goals with three assists to beat Virginia Wesleyan 16-8. He also recorded his 100th career point in less than two collegiate seasons.
Frank Krug, DeSales (Jr., LSM, Perkasie, Pa.)
Krug was once again dominant in the defensive midfield recording 10 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls in wins over Misericordia and Delaware Valley.
Joe Neggia, DeSales (Sr., A, Kinnelon, N.J.)
Neggia helped the Bulldogs stay unbeaten at 11-0 with wins over Misericordia and Delaware Valley. He had five goals and one assist in the win over Misericordia. Neggia followed that up with seven goals and one assist in the win over Delaware Valley.
Alex Newhouse, Union (Sr., FO/M, Parkland, Fla.)
Newhouse had a big week at the X, winning 27-of-35 face-offs (77.1 percent) in two #20 Union victories over Montclair State and Ithaca. He started the week by winning 6-of-10 draws with five ground balls against the Red Hawks, then dominated Ithaca by winning 21-of-25 face-offs and scooping up 13 ground balls while adding an assist off a faceoff in a 14-10 comeback victory.
Zachary Prime, St. Lawrence (So., FO/M, Duxbury, Mass.)
Prime dominated the faceoff dot for the No. 19 Saints, going 23-for-35 for a 0.657 FO% and grabbed a team-best 12 ground balls.
Cameron Russell, Castleton (Jr., M, St. Albans, Vt.)
Russell was instrumental in a pair of LEC wins for Castleton on the week, scoring the game-winning goal in each contest while racking up nine total scores in the two outings. In a 12-10 win Wednesday at UMass.-Boston, Russell scored six goals, including the goal that made it 10-10 and the goal that made it 11-10 in favor of the Spartans. On Saturday against Eastern Connecticut, the junior racked up another hat trick, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime after Castleton erased a four-goal deficit heading into the fourth quarter.
Chad Simons, Amherst (Jr., G, Warren, N.J.)
Simons had back-to-back 10-plus save games versus top-15 opponents. He racked up 13 stops in a 14-9 win over No. 6 Wesleyan and 14 saves against No. 13 Williams. Simons finished the week with seven ground balls, two caused turnovers, 27 stops, and an 11.00 GAA.
Dawson Tait, RIT (Jr., A, Ottawa, Ontario)
Tait led No. 3 RIT to a 2-0 record, leading RIT in scoring with 14 points on eight goals and six assists. He tallied five points on three goals and two assists in a 14-10 win at SUNY Cortland and added a career-high nine points on five goals and four assists in a win over No. 15 Rensselaer Saturday.
