The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 12th 2019 Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, April 30. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Grant Ament, Penn State (Jr., A, Doylestown, Pa.)
Had seven assists in a 14-13 win over Rutgers; assisted on the game-winning goal with 40 seconds left.
Tyler Canto, Towson (Jr., G, Billerica, Mass.)
Made 17 saves while allowing nine goals in a 11-9 win over Drexel; made 12 second-half saves while allowing two goals.
Bryan Costabile, Notre Dame (Jr., M, Sykesville, Md.)
Scored five goals in a 12-10 win over Duke in the ACC semifinals; scored ND’s first two goals and last two goals, including one that sealed the win with 54 seconds left.
Christian Daniel, Navy (So., A, Owings. Md.)
Had five goals and three assists in a 13-12 win over Boston University; either scored or assisted on six of Navy’s seven second-half goals.
Joey Epstein, Johns Hopkins (Fr., A, Bethesda, Md.)
Had four goals and two assists in a 16-11 win over Maryland; all six points came during the 13-5 run that turned a 5-1 deficit into a 14-10 lead.
TD Ierlan, Yale (Jr., FO, Victor, N.Y.)
Won 26 of 26 face-offs and had a goal, an assist and 20 ground balls in a 22-11 win over Harvard; set the NCAA record for the most face-offs won in a game without a loss.
Ian Laviano, Virginia (So., A, Laurel Hollow, N.Y.)
Had four goals in a 14-13 win over North Carolina in the ACC semifinals; scored twice in the final 6:32, including the game-winner with 1:30 to go.
Bryan McIntosh, Mount St. Mary’s (So., D, Jamison, Pa.)
Had five caused turnovers and five ground balls in a 7-6 win over St. Joe’s; the win clinched the top seed in the Northeast Conference tournament.
Asher Nolting, High Point (So., A, Greenwood Village, Colo.)
Had four goals and three assists in a 15-14 win over Richmond that earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Southern Conference tournament; scored the game-winning goal with six seconds left.
James Sexton, Utah (Jr., A, Niskayuna, N.Y.)
Had five goals and eight assists in a 16-10 win over Detroit-Mercy; the 13 points were the most by any player in a game in Division I this season.
