The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its eighth 2019 Division III Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, April 2. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Henry DeCamp, Denison University (Sr., FO, Washington, D.C.)
Was 17-of-19 on face-offs with 13 ground balls and one first quarter goal. Helped #13 Denison to a 24-7 win over Albion. DeCamp is winning 60 percent of his face-offs this season. He is only 38 ground balls shy of becoming the program's all-time leader.
Brandon Warren, Salisbury University (Jr., GK, Forest Hill, Md.)
Warren helped the top ranked Salisbury men's lacrosse team to a 2-0 week, which included a victory over No. 6 Cabrini University. Warren tallied 11 saves in the win over the Cavaliers, marking the fourth double-digit save performance of the season for him. After allowing two early first quarter tallies by Cabrini Warren allowed just three more goals over the final 52 minutes of action. He followed up that performance a five save day against Mary Washington holding the Eagles scoreless over the final 45 minutes after allowing just three first quarter goals. His 60.1 save percentage ranks second in the CAC while 6.18 GAA ranks first.
Jack Michael, York (Pa.) College (Fr., GK, Lake Orion, Mich.)
Freshman Jack Michael registered 11 saves and allowed just four goals to #15 Christopher Newport on Saturday in York's lone game for the week. Michael made five saves and kept the Captains scoreless in the third quarter as the Spartans pulled away from CNU by winning the quarter 3-0. Michael now has double figures in saves in seven of his 11 collegiate games for York. The four goals were a season-low for the Captains.
Zack Pompea, Salisbury University (Sr., Mid, Redding, Conn.)
Notched the 100th point of his career in a 15-3 win over University of Mary Washington turning a team-best performance netting four goals in the conference opening win. Pompea scored two of the team's six first quarter goals as part of a 6-0 run to open the contest before notching the only two goals of the second quarter netting one man up marker, to assist in the team’s 4-of-4 mark for the afternoon, and an unassisted even strength goal. It is Pompea's second hat trick of the season and sixth consecutive game registering at least one goal. He would also add one goal and a team-high four assists in a 13-5 victory over No. 6 Cabrini University on Wednesday, March 27.
JT Thelen, Stevenson University (Sr., A, Tampa, Fla.)
Totaled 13 goals and two assists in a 2-0 week. Tied a program record with nine goals and added an assist in a win against Albright. Recorded four goals and an assist in a win against previously-unbeaten Hood Wednesday night.
Nick Della Ratta, Plattsburgh State University (Sr., SSM, Huntington, N.Y.)
Della Ratta tallied nine ground balls and caused four turnovers as a short-stick defensive midfielder in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals. He scooped up six ground balls and caused three turnovers in a 13-5 win over New England College on Tuesday before collecting three ground balls and causing one turnover in a 7-6 SUNYAC-opening victory over SUNY Geneseo on Saturday.
Luc Swedlund, Stockton University (So., A, Randolph, N.J.)
Scored 13 of his team's 27 goals last week... Scored game-tying goal with :03 left and winning goal in OT in 17-16 win over Scranton... Scored game-high seven goals vs. DeSales and game-high six goals vs. Scranton
Chad Simons, Amherst College (Jr., GK, Warren, N.J.)
Chad Simons '20 was the difference maker in a 2-0 week for the Mammoths. After recording nine stops in a big 22-8 win over Springfield, Simons went on to grab six ground balls and make several highlight reel stops in a stellar 18 save performance in a 23-12 win over Middlebury after owning a four goal lead at the half. He finished the week with a 61.4 save percentage and a 9.71 GAA.
Jack O’Connell, Dickinson College (Sr., A, Sands Point, N.Y.)
Tallied four goals and three assists in a win at McDaniel and followed that performance with seven goals and one assist at Eastern on Saturday
Brian Kolen, Gettysburg College (Jr., A, Bridgewater, N.J.)
Kolen posted nine goals and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Bullets. He tallied three goals and an assist at No. 19 F&M and went for six goals, including the 100th of his career, in an 11-10 win at Muhlenberg.
Previous Weeks
