The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 10th 2019 Division III Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, April 16. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
 
The list of honorees are as follows:

Thomas Pfeiffer, York College (Pa.) (Sr., A, Forest Hill, Md.)
Pfeiffer tied a school record with seven goals in the win over Frostburg State on Wednesday. He tallied three goals in the decisive third quarter followed by a pair of goals in the fourth period. Pfeiifer added three goals and an assist in the win over Southern Virginia.
 
Nate Usich, Dickinson College (Sr., LSM, Avon, Conn.)
Usich had another great week, causing eight turnovers and controlling seven ground balls. He forced five tunrovers, pickd up four GBs and handed out a pair of assists against Swarthmore.
 
Garrett Pope, Muhlenberg College (Jr., GK, New Providence, N.J.)
Pope compiled a 4.59 goals-against average and .769 save percentage as Muhlenberg won a pair of Centennial Conference road games. He stopped 14 shots while allowing five goals at Swarthmore, then allowed a season-low four goals while making 16 saves at McDaniel.
 
Michael Adragna, Fairleigh Dickinson University (Sr., D, Manahawkin, N.J.)
Caused 5 turnovers and 9 ground balls in two games this week...matched season high with 6 ground balls in setback against DeSales while forcing four turnovers...added a CT and 3 ground balls in setback against Misericordia.
 
Mason Pollack, Tufts University (Jr., GK, Arlington, Va.)
Had a season-high 19 saves and also scored his second goal of the season as #6 Tufts defeated #5 Amherst 15-14 in a key NESCAC game. Six saves in 4th quarter including two in final three minutes as Tufts protected its one-goal lead.
 
Shaun Peirce, Wooster College (So., A, North Attleboro, Mass.)
Was unstoppable on the week with 13 goals in two games. Peirce's career-high eight goals vs. Wabash were one off Wooster's school record set back in 1992 and were the most since 2002. Earlier in the week, he scored five times as the Scots handed Whittier its second loss of the season.
 
Rod Castro, Amherst College (Jr., D, Bryn Mawr, Pa.)
Rod Castro was stellar on defense in two games for the Mammoths, corralling seven ground balls and causing 10 total turnovers, including eight caused turnovers in a dominant 23-8 win over Connecticut College.

Zach Pompea, Salisbury University (Sr., M, Redding, Conn.)
Zach Pompea was crucial in a 2-0 week for the Sea Gulls as he helped keep the maroon and gold undefeated posting a team-best eight goals and 11 points. In the Sea Gulls 15-14 2OT come from behind victory over the Shoremen on Saturday, April 13 Pompea finished with a team-high seven points and another team-best four goals. He scored three goals in the fourth quarter and overtime including the game tying and game winning marker to cap a 9-2 goal run by the Sea Gulls to rally back and beat Washington. Against No. 20 Christopher Newport Pompea tallied four goals, which tied the team-high, while adding in 10 shots, eight of which were on cage. For the week Pompea finished with a shot percentage of .444 and a SOG% of .722.
 
Peter Pittroff, Denison University (Jr., A, Charlotte, N.C.)
Peter Pittroff totaled 7 points in each of Denison's victories this week against Kenyon and Whittier. Against Kenyon, Pittroff totaled two goals and five assists. He posted three goals and four assists against Whittier moving him to 210 points in his career. He currently sits in sixth-place in career points at Denison. He needs only four points to move into fifth place and 11 points to jump to third place.
 
Garrette Briggs, Alfred University (Jr., FO/M, Horseheads, N.Y.)
The top faceoff-man in the nation defended his title last week, going 29-of-30 in the faceoff circle (an AU and Empire 8 record) against Houghton and 27-of-28 against Elmira. He also broke the AU and Empire 8 record for groundballs in a game, twice during the week with 21 against Houghton and 24 against Elmira. Briggs also set the AU program record for groundballs in a season (previously 126 by Tyler Brooks-Lamert in 2011). He currently has 152 groundballs in 2019. Briggs ranks second all-time in AU history with 303 groundballs.
