The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 10th 2019 Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, April 16. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Gerard Arceri, Penn State (Jr., FO/M, Saint James, N.Y.)
Won 22 of 27 face-offs in a 17-7 win over Michigan; also had a career-high 21 ground balls.
James Burr, Boston University (Sr., A, Hamilton, Mass.)
Had five goals and four assists for a career-high nine points in an 18-11 win over Loyola; became the program’s all-time leading scorer and now has 175 career points.
Jake Carraway, Georgetown (Jr., A, Annapolis, Md.)
Had 10 goals and three assists in two games; had five goals and an assist in a 16-14 loss to Loyola and then five goals and two assists in a 16-13 win over Villanova.
Anthony DeMaio, Maryland (So., A, San Diego, Calif.)
Had three goals and three assists for a career-high six points in a 16-13 win over Rutgers; had two goals and three assists during the 12-4 Maryland run to end the game after the Terps trailed 9-4 in the second quarter.
Mike Eveland, Robert Morris (Sr., D, Doylestown, Pa.)
Had two caused turnovers, eight ground balls and his first collegiate goal in 56 games played as the Colonials defeated Lehigh and Cleveland State; led a defense that held Lehigh to two goals in a 39:10 span and then shut out CSU for 28:13.
Sam Handley, Penn (Fr., A/M, Portland, Ore.)
Scored six goals in a 26-13 win over Harvard; broke the Penn single-season record for points by a freshman (now has 44).
Charlie Kitchen, Delaware (Jr., A, Marlton, N.J.)
Had four goals and five assists in a 13-7 win over Hofstra; stretched his streak of consecutive games with at least one goal to 29, third-best in Division I.
Jackson Reid, Ohio State (So., A, Guelph, Ont.)
Had a career-high five goals and an assist in a 14-13 win over Johns Hopkins in a game the Buckeyes had trailed by six; had the game-winning goal with 49 seconds left.
Sean Sconone, UMass (Sr., GK, East Islip, N.Y.)
Made 17 saves in a 14-10 win over Towson; made nine saves and allowed two goals in the first half as the Minutemen built a 10-2 lead.
Michael Sowers, Princeton (Jr., A, Dresher, Pa.)
Had 18 points in a pair of Princeton wins, with 6G and 5A against Siena – for 11 points that tied the school record for most in a game - and then 3G and 4A against Dartmouth; moved into second-place all-time in career points at Princeton with 237, 10 away from the school record that has stood for 25 years.
