The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its seventh 2019 Division II Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, March 26. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Jacob Allen, Maryville (Fr. A, Webster, N.Y.)
For the week, Allen totaled six goals and three assists. Allen scored five times against UAH, including three straight in the fourth, to help the Saints pull away. Allen added career highs with three assists and four ground balls versus UAH.
Dryden Brous, Lynn (Jr., FO, Ocean City, Md.)
Brous boasted an astounding 86.1% winning clip at the faceoff X over the three games, winning 62-of-72 attempts. He also racked up 44 ground balls, averaging 14.7 per game. In the win over SMC, Brous was absolutely dominant from start to finish, breaking one of his own school records while tying another. He won 23-of-25 (92%) faceoff attempts and picked up 20 ground balls. The 20 ground balls breaks his old single-game school record of 17 while the 23 faceoff wins match Brous' own program high-mark.
Reid Chaconas, Florida Tech (Jr., M, Westminster, Md.)
Chaconas set a career-high with eight points (five goals and three assists) in the 24-6 win over Nichols while also recording a team-high three caused turnovers. Tallied four goals and one assist in the 17-16 victory over #20 Rollins. Chaconas scored the goal to kicked off the Panthers' run and sparked their comeback from an 8-0 deficit, the largest comeback win in program history.
Brady Kearnan, Newberry (Fr., A, Courtice, Ontario)
Kearnan scored two goals and dished out nine assists in two games for Newberry. Kearnan helped Newberry get its first conference win over Coker. Tied a school record for assists in a game with five against Coker.
Sam Lindahl, Rockhurst (So., A, Maplewood, Minn.)
Led No. 17 Rockhurst with nine points in 19-9 win over Alabama Huntsville. Two days later, led the Hawks with five points and five CTs in 20-8 win over Young Harris.
Dylan Mansur, Newberry (Sr. A, Edgewater, Md.)
Mansur scored seven goals and dished out four assists over a two-game stretch for Newberry. Mansur was a key-contributor in helping Newberry get its first conference win over Coker.
Brody Munro, Belmont Abbey (Sr., D, Bowmanville, Ontario)
Caused five turnovers on the week and picked up seven ground balls during Belmont Abbey’s two wins.
Liam Osborne, Belmont Abbey (Sr., A, Bowmanville, Ontario)
Scored 11 goals on the week against two teams receiving Top-20 votes, helping guide Belmont Abbey to consecutive wins.
Nick Ponte, Merrimack (Jr., GK, North Reading, Mass.)
Junior Nick Ponte had his best afternoon as a Warrior, improving to 3-0 on the season after posting a career-best 20 saves in net. He stopped 64.5 percent of the shots he saw.
Logan Sweeney, Florida Tech (Sr., M, Sykesville, Md.)
Sweeny set a school record with 10 points (four goals and six assists) in the win over Nichols College. Recorded two goals and one assist in the 17-16 come from behind victory over #20 Rollins.
