The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its sixth 2019 Division III Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, March 19. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Chad Simons, Amherst College (Jr. GK, Warren, N.J.)
Racked up 37 stops against two top-15 teams (22 saves vs. F&M / 15 saves vs. RIT) to average a 12.50 GAA on a 2-0 weekend at the Mustang Classic. Clutch in handing No. 2 RIT its first regular season loss in 30 games (since 2017).
Evan Wolf, Amherst College (Sr. A, Wynnewod, Pa.)
Was nothing short of sensational on offense in the Mammoths 2-0 weekend at the Mustang Classic that featured two wins over top-15 teams - including RIT's first regular season loss in 30 games. Against F&M, Wolf netted seven scores, including a man-down goal, in a 17-9 victory before potting four goals and dishing out an assist in a 17-16 win over RIT a day later to finish with 12 points and a 57.9 shooting percentage.
Colin Dean, University of Lynchburg (Jr. A, Havre de Grace, Md.)
Notched first-career hat trick and added two assists in Saturday night's loss to defending national champions Wesleyan.
Josh Melton, Salisbury University (Jr. A, Centennial, Co.)
Helped No. 1 Salisbury to extend its record to 8-0 with victories over Illinois Wesleyan University and Montclair State University by scores of 22-6 and 23-1. Against the Titans Melton tied his career high in points totaling 10 netting a new career-high and a team-best six goals while adding four assists. He followed up that performance with a five-goal outing against Montclair St. to tie the team-high in points with five. In two games he totaled 17 shots placing 15 on goal for a SOG% of .882.
Juan Gonzalez, Amherst College (Fr. FO, Sarasota, Fla.)
Was 38-58 at the faceoff dot in a 2-0 week, including a stellar 23-for-35 against RIT with 16 ground balls to play a key role in the Mammoths comeback 17-16 win.
Mitch Wyckoff, Gettysburg College (Jr. D, Fairfield, Conn.)
Posted 10 ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a pair of goals in two victories for No. 11 Gettysburg. The junior defenseman scooped three ground balls and tallied a goal as the Bullets knocked off No. 16 Washington and Lee 14-13. He scored his sixth goal of the season and finished with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers in the team's 9-5 win over Eastern. Wykoff anchored a defensive unit that held Eastern scoreless over the final 25 minutes.
Peter Lindley, Roanoke College (Sr. A, Darien, Conn.)
Had 20 points on the week scoring 15 goals and adding five assists. He had five goals against Kenyon then tied the RC record with 10 goals against VWU. He also added four assists to tie the ODAC record with 14 points.
Peter Pittroff, Denison University (Jr. A, Charlotte, N.C.)
Led #10 Denison with 3 goals and 5 assists in a 15-12 win over #14 Franklin & Marshall at the Mustang Classic. Pittroff moved into third place on Denison's career assist leader board.
Bobby McClure, Ursinus College (Jr. A, Havertown, Pa.)
Matched the single-game goals record with six - all in the first half - in a 16-7 victory over Eastern on Wednesday. The junior put seven of his ten shots on goal and found the back of the net on six of them, also dishing out two assists for a career-high eight points.
Brodie Phillips, Dickinson College (Sr. M, Charlottesville, Va.)
Led the attack in a 1-1 week as the Red Devils knocked off #10-ranked Denison University on Friday at the Green Turtle Classic. Phillips dished out five assists and scored twice, adding a pair of ground balls. He netted a hat-track and handed out three assists against Middlebury on Saturday.
