The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its sixth 2019 Division II Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, March 19. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Andrew Avarello, Mount Olive (So., GK, Clarence, N.Y.)
Helped the No. 15 Trojans remain unbeaten in conference play by allowing only four goals against North Greenville on 19 shots recording 15 saves.
Charlie Bertrand, Merrimack (Jr., A, Baldwinsville, N.Y.)
Had another big day on offense with seven goals and eight total points to lead Merrimack over Saint Rose. He led Merrimack in scoring for the fourth straight game to start the year on the strength of his seven goals – one off his personal best. He scored on 7-of-12 shot attempts and put 10 of those attempts on net while adding two ground balls and causing two turnovers. Two of those goals were man-up tallies.
Connor Farrell, LIU Post (Sr., FO, Holtsville, N.Y.)
Finished 20-for-21 in the faceoff circle against Saint Thomas Aquinas in LIU Post's conference opener. Recorded 16 ground balls and added one goal scored.
Ian Kirby, Adelphi (Sr., A, Massapequa, N.Y.)
Totaled a team-high 11 points in a 2-0 week for #1 Adelphi. Averaged 3.0 goals per game and matched a season-high 7 points in a win over Molloy.
Parker Kump, Indianapolis (Sr., A, Surrey, British Columbia)
Handed out a program-record five assists in the win at Alabama Huntsville; totaled seven points at Alabama Huntsville; scored four goals at #11 Belmont Abbey
Conor Larkin, Belmont Abbey (So., D, Doylestown, Pa.)
Caused five turnovers against #6-ranked Indianapolis.
Louis Ragusa, Pace, (Fr., GK, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.)
Put together 30 saves across a pair of wins for No. 8 Pace last week. He was especially dominant in a road victory over SNHU, posting 17 stops while allowing just four goals.
Evan Schimek, Rollins (Sr., D, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Was instrumental in the Tars' two regional wins on the week, earning an assist while totaling a team high eight caused turnovers while adding four ground balls. In the Tars' 12-8 upset victory over No. 20 Colorado Mesa, Schimek earned a ground ball and caused a game high five caused turnovers while helping to hold the Mavericks to just 12 shots on goal and keeping them silent on both extra-man opportunities. In the Tars' big 22-8 win over Colorado State-Pueblo, Schimek earned an assist while adding three ground balls and three caused turnovers in his time on the field. With Schimek's help, the Tars have won five straight games.
Lucas Shafer, Maryville (Sr., A, Hamburg, N.Y.)
Scored five goals and added one assist in the win over #18 Saint Leo. Followed up with two assists in the victory over Lake Erie.
Larson Sundown, Limestone (Jr., A, Basom, N.Y.)
Finished with 12 goals and two assists in wins over No. 13 Rockhurst and No. 9 Seton Hill - tallied seven goals and an assist in a 16-3 win over Rockhurst and five goals and an assist in a 15-14 win over Seton Hill.
