2019 Team of the Week D3 Week 5

USILA / Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week – Division III – Week of March 11

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its fifth 2019 Division III Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, March 12. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
 
The list of honorees are as follows:
 
Matt Treiber, Tufts University (Jr., A, Medfield, Mass.)
Treiber aided the No. 4 Jumbos in their come from behind, 19-17, victory over No. 9 Stevens on March 9. Treiber netted seven markers for the afternoon including two in the fourth quarter to help Tufts pull even at 17-17 before assisting on what proved to be the game-winning goal. He finished the week with nine goals and five assists to total 14 points while also adding four groundballs.

Matt Chlastawa, Bates College (Jr., A, Westfield, Mass.)
Chlastawa helped Bate topple No. 1 Wesleyan (Conn.) University 15-12 this past weekend. He posted a team-best 10 points scoring five goals and five assists in the contest while also scooping up four groundballs.

Alex Ulrich, Gettysburg College (So., FO, Annapolis, MD)
Ulrich went 38-of-53 (71.6 percent) on face-offs and scooped 15 ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Bullets. He went 14-of-23 at the X with three ground balls in a loss to No. 6 York and followed up by winning 24 face-offs and corralling 12 ground balls in an 18-9 victory over Widener. His ground ball total was the best by a Bullet in 12 years.

Justin Ruiz, Stockton University (Sr., GK, Holmdel, N.J.)
Ruize recorded a career-high 21 saves in 16-11 win over Washington (MD) in matchup of two teams receiving votes in the USILA poll. For the contest he posted a save percentage of .656.

JJ Hoots, Rhodes College (Jr., M/FO, Winston-Salem, N.C.)
Hoots helped the Lynx go 2-1 on the week, defeating Carthage 12-11 OT and Muhlenberg 12-10 before falling to Colorado College 17-11. In the victory over the Mules Hoots set a new program records with 16 ground balls and 19 faceoff wins. Hoots went 12-of-17 against Carthage and 19-of-22 against Muhlenberg, totaling 26 groundballs in the two games.

Cross Ferrara, Salisbury University (So., A, Greenville, Del.)
Cross Ferrara tied a career-high scoring four goals in Salisbury's 14-9 win over Stevenson University on March 9. Ferrara netted three of Salisbury’s four second quarter goals to help give the Sea Gulls a 6-3 halftime advantage. He continued his dominant performance netting one of Salisbury's six third quarter markers, firing home a man up opportunity. For the game Ferrara totaled nine shots placing five on frame for a SOG% of .800.  

Cam Isaac, RIT (Sr., M, Webster, N.Y.)
Isaac led No. 3 RIT to a 2-0 record last week, tallying 10 goals and 11 points. Isaac tallied a career-high six goals in a 21-4 win over Springfield College and followed up that performance netting four goals in an 18-8 win at Clarkson University.
 
Brooks Davy, Denison University (Sr., A, Wilmington, N.C.)
Davy aided No. 10 Denison to a victory over DePauw and fived the game the team’s leader in both goals and points netting five and totaling six respectively. With the performance he became just the 18th player in Denison program history to score 100 goals.

Christian Aurand, Adrian College (Fr., D, Troy, Mich.)
Aurand tied school record for caused turnovers, and most by a freshman in AC history, totaling eight in Adrian’s victory over Franciscan. He scooped up career-high nine ground balls as well to help the Bulldogs snap a 10-game road losing streak with 16-7 win. It was also the fewest goals allowed on the road since 2017.

Jack Taylor, Washington & Lee (So., GK, Baltimore, Md.)
Taylor helped the Generals to a 2-0 week by recording 23 saves with just seven goals allowed in 92:13 played. Taylor posted six saves with two goals allowed in a 22-3 win over Mary Washington and followed up that performance with a career-best 17 saves and just five goals against in a 14-6 win over Randolph-Macon.
