The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its third 2019 Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, February 26. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Grant Ament, Penn State (Jr., A, Doylestown, Pa.)
Had two goals and seven assists in a 14-13 loss to Yale; the seven assists were a career high.
Tate Boyce, Providence (Sr., G, Matthews, N.C.)
Made 27 saves while allowing five goals in a win over St. Joe’s; save percentage in the game was .844.
Patrick Burkinshaw, Virginia (Fr., G, Madison, Conn.)
Made 24 saves, the last in the final minute of regulation, in a 12-11 overtime win over Princeton; Burkinshaw set saves records for Virginia freshmen, Virginia goalies making their first career start and Princeton’s Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
TD Ierlan, Yale (Jr., FO, Victor, N.Y.)
Won 25 of 31 face-offs and had 22 ground balls in a 14-13 win over Penn State; performance came against Penn State’s Gerard Arceri, who had been ranked No. 1 in Division I in face-offs prior to the game at 80 percent.
Ryan Lanchbury, Richmond (So., A, Burlington, Ont.)
Had five goals and an assist in a 17-12 win over UMBC; had three goals in 9-8 win over Notre Dame.
Patrick Spencer, Loyola (Sr., A, Davidsonville, Md.)
Had five goals and two assists in a 13-7 win over Rutgers; has had seven points in all three games this season.
John Schmank, VMI (Jr., D, Centreville, Pa.)
Had five caused turnovers and three ground balls in a 15-8 win over NJIT; VMI has opened the season 2-0 for the first time since 2000 and 2-0 against two Division I opponents for the first time in program history.
Brendan Sunday, Towson (Sr., A, Poughquag, N.Y.)
Had four goals and five assists in a 14-8 win over Georgetown; all four goals came in the fourth quarter as the Tigers pulled away.
Jeff Teat, Cornell (Jr., A, Brampton, Ont.)
Had 10 goals and four assists as the Big Red defeated Hobart and Lehigh; had five of his six goals in the second half of the 19-16 win over Hobart.
Logan Wisnauskas, Maryland (So., A, Sykesville, Md.)
Had six goals and seven assists in wins over Colgate and Navy; had three goals in each game and five assists in the win over Navy.
