The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its second 2019 Division II Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, February 19. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Jayden Fraser, Maryville (Fr., A, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan)
Tied the school record for goals in a game with seven. Tied his season best with four assists and 11 points.
Bobby Chillianis, Mercy (Sr., A, Bethpage, N.Y.)
Led the team in points and goals. Scored four goals against No. 2 Le Moyne.
Charlie Kurtenbach, Saint Leo (Sr., A, Issaquah, Wash.)
Kurtenbach placed .538 percent of his shots on target while .385 percent of his takes found the back of the net. On Monday against Notre Dame De Namur, he scored a hat-trick while earning an assist. He led the Lions offense against the No. 6 Limestone Saints on Sunday with two goals.
Brian Huyghue, Limestone (Gr., A, Hailfax, Nova Scotia)
Posted six points on four goals and two assists in an 18-7 win over Saint Leo. Tallied three goals and two assists in the second quarter as part of a decisive 9-0 run.
Larson Sundown, Limestone (Jr., A, Basom, N.Y.)
Finished with three goals and three assists to help lead the Saints past No. 9 Saint Leo. Finished with a goal and a pair of assists during a 9-0 run that spanned 20 minutes.
Xander Cosenza, Lynn (So., M, Bayshore, N.Y.)
Team-high-tying five goals. Scored 11 seconds into the game and 3 times in the first 3 minutes as Lynn got out ahead early and never looked back. Matched his career-high of five goals, which he set last year as a freshman, and is only one of six players in program history to score five or more goals in a game. Team's first win in program history over a team ranked No. 7 or higher.
Sean Darroch, Lindenwood (Sr., M, Oshawa, Ontario)
Scored a team-leading four goals, helping No. 18 Lindenwood earn its second victory of the season.
Ryan MacSpadyen, Mercy (Sr., M, Toronto, Ontario)
Was third on team with seven points. Had two goals and two assists against No. 2 Le Moyne
Tim McCarthy, Maryville (So., D, Clifton Park, N.Y.)
Matched the program record with six Caused Turnovers. Added four ground balls. On a man-down situation, scored his first career goal.
Ryan Gibbons, Mercy (Sr., GK, Seaford, N.Y.)
Went 2-0 with a .697 save-percentage. Made a career-high 19 saves in win over No. 2 Le Moyne.
