The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its first 2019 Division II Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, February 12. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Keegan Bell – Tusculum – He set program single-game records with seven goals and 10 points in a 23-8 win over Lees-McRae.
Carter Collins – Lindenwood – He scored a career-high four goals, including the game-deciding score, during a five-point performance that fueled Lindenwood's upset of No. 10 Colorado Mesa.
Brett Craig, Seton Hill – He anchored the Griffin defense to a pair of wins. He led team with 14 ground balls and five caused turnovers in wins over Molloy (18-4) and Alderson Broaddus (21-6).
Noah Haas, Belmont Abbey – Led BA to a comeback win at Catawba with five points on three goals and two assists.
John Hofseth, Seton Hill – He led the Griffins to a pair of wins with 14 points on five goals and nine assists. He had four goals and three assists in an 18-4 win over Molloy and a goal and six assists in a 21-6 G-MAC win over Alderson Broaddus.
Charlie Kurtenbach, Saint Leo – He had a seven-point performance (three goals, four assists) in a 23-12 win over Alabama-Huntsville. In his three goals scored, one came at a man-up opportunity along with one during a man-down situation.
Tyler Papa, Limestone – He recorded a first-half hat trick, and then sparked a 5-0 spurt in the second half in a 19-9 win over #4 Lenoir-Rhyne
Lucas Shafer, Maryville – He registered 19 points on nine goals and 10 assists in Maryville’s 1-1 week. He set a school record with 16 points on seven goals and a program-record nine assists in a 24-14 win at Wheeling Jesuit. He scored two goals and had an assist in an 8-7 loss to #10 Colorado Mesa.
Thomas Vaesen, Montevallo – He scored a career-high and program record 11 goals and totaled three assists in 24-18 win over Mars Hill. He became tied for second all-time in NCAA Divison II in goals in single game with 11, and moved into the top five all-time in points in a match with 14.
Clark Walter, Limestone – He posted two first-half and two second-half goals to help Limestone run past No. 4 Lenoir-Rhyne, 19-9
