The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its first 2019 Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, February 12. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees are as follows:
Grant Ament, Penn State
Had four goals and 13 assists in two games as Penn State scored 44 goals; games were first since missing all of last year due to an injury.
Robert Casey, Hofstra
Recorded 14 saves in his first career start while helping to lead the Pride to a 4-3 win at No. 13 Lehigh; had a save percentage of .824.
Eric Holden, Hobart
Scored seven goals and added two assists in a 21-12 win over Canisius; goals and points were both career highs.
Brendan Nichtern, Army
Scored four goals and added three assists, including the game-winner 26 seconds into overtime, to lead Army past UMass 12-11.
Asher Nolting, High Point
Had two goals and three assists as High Point defeated then No. 2 Duke 13-9; Duke, last year’s NCAA runner-up, is the highest-ranked team High Point has ever beaten.
Nicky Petkevich, Colgate
Scored four goals, three in the second half and two in the fourth quarter, in a 12-9 win over Syracuse at the Carrier Dome; four goals were a career high.
Patrick Spencer, Loyola
Tied career high with five goals and added two assists as Loyola defeated No. 6 Virginia 17-9; four of his five goals were unassisted.
Jacob Stover, Loyola
Made 18 saves while allowing nine goals for a .667 save percentage in a 17-9 win over No. 6 Virginia; made 13 of saves in the second and third quarters as the Greyhounds broke the game open.
Tim Troutner Jr., High Point
Made 19 saves in High Point’s 13-9 win over Duke for a .679 save percentage; made seven saves in the third quarter to keep the game tied before High Point outscored Duke 7-3 in the fourth.
Alex Woodall, Towson
Won 21 of 28 face-offs and had a goal and two assists as Towson defeated Johns Hopkins 17-8 for the most goals the Tigers have ever scored against Hopkins; also had 17 ground balls on the day.
